A favourite pattern can become something completely personal through the yarn we choose, the colours we combine and, most of all, the people we knit for. Sometimes a sweater begins as a project for ourselves and ends up with someone we love. Sometimes a pattern travels with us, helps us learn something new or becomes one we return to again and again.

Jane Welsh originally knitted her Field Cardigan for herself, but sometimes a hand-knit simply finds another home. The moment her daughter saw the finished cardigan, she knew it was perfect for her. Jane let it go, and it has been getting plenty of compliments ever since.
